The actual green blade of synthetic grass is composed of polyethylene material. a common form of plastic found in items such as plastic bags.
The polyethylene comes in a solid pellet form. It is then heated down along with any color tones and UV resistant additives.
The thatch layer of synthetic grass is made from a polypropylene, polyethylene or nylon material. It provides the turf with an added layer of support and blade recovery.
Synthetic grass blades are inserted into the backing in rows through a tufting machine.
This machine gives the grass blades and thatches a more secure hold which also increases the turf’s life and sturdiness.
Earlier artificial turfs used to lose their color after prolonged exposure to the sun. The Nylon fiber began to fade fast, and within a few years the fake grass actually looked fake. Unlike early artificial turfs, in which color was directly applied to the fiber’s surface like paint. The natural color in today’s artificial grasses by Bethelmendels is embedded in the polyethylene grass blades. The color is locked into the plastic, it won't bleed over time, and won’t fade away like the paint.
